“What Difference Does It Make”

I, like many in this country go throughout life deaf, dumb and blind. By this I mean we are oblivious to what is going on around us as long as it doesn’t affect us personally. We are too busy tending to our own needs/wants, too busy playing video games, too busy watching reality shows and yes, we are even too busy to pay attention to what our elected officials in office are saying and doing behind closed doors.

What prompt me into getting involved by bringing some of our country’s issues to the forefront began over a year ago as I was heading home.  I was listening to Tony Perkins of Washington Watch on 89.1 fm talk about Gender abortions. I learned that this was one of many types of abortions being performed in the United States. After I got home I did some research where I found that the definition of Gender aka Sex-selective abortion was terminating the pregnancy because of the undesired sex of the baby. Did you know its legal in some states but because there is no regulation in reporting the procedures the government does not have a count. Another type is partial-birth or late-term abortions was banned in 2003 but the past few years we have learned this practice was and I imagine is still being performed, remember Dr. Kermit Gosnell case in Philadelphia?

Since the Roe vs Wade decision 41 years ago there has been over 56 million babies aborted. I think about the different developing stages of these little human beings who were created in God’s image were legally murdered because of 7 judge’s decision that said in so many words, it’s not a real life so yes, let us make abortion legal. This is one of many issues in our country that’s been passed or in the process of passing that have or will have some sort of consequences.

The push by the pro-abortion groups rally to continue support for abortions by running on the argument that it’s the woman’s body, she should be able to do what she wants with it, and its part of healthcare. According to the Obama administration we the American people will be paying for these abortions whether we agree with it or not. Remember the phrase “I will not bow and Planned Parenthood will not bow” when President Obama ran for his 2nd term.  Well hidden deep within the many pages of Obamacare a secrecy clause sec. 1310(b)(3), page 781 in the 2010 healthcare law states how the insurance companies must pay for abortion and also they must not inform the purchaser about the coverage. The only way the purchaser would find out would be if they read the fine print.

According to the American Center for Law and Justice (ACLJ), Obamacare requires every American to purchase health insurance and the insurance providers to cover “preventive services” and preventative care but the wording in Obamacare is so broadly defined that they could be used to force coverage of abortions and abortion related drugs. ObamaCare not only opens the door for Planned Parenthood to run clinics in our middle and public schools it also provides our federal tax dollars to be used for these clinics. Although they can’t provide abortions in the school clinics they can refer the student on where to go and in a lot of the states parental permission may not be necessary. The March for Life took place on January 22 in Washington, DC with hundreds of thousand peaceful pro-life marchers. It was reported that even a large number of young people was there to show support.  If you didn’t know this march was happening then its because certain news media networks didn’t want to acknowledge the Pro-Life march and two other networks only reported a few seconds before hurrying to other news.  At the March for Life, House Majority Leader Eric Cantor made an announcement regarding a bill called H.R. 7, which is the “No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion Act”. What H.R. 7 does is put a permanent ban on the government from using federal taxpayer dollars to fund abortions. Although there is the Hyde Amendment that is used to prevent the tax dollars from funding abortions it has to be voted on annually and to my understanding it does not apply to Obamacare. The H.R. 7 would finalize this prevention of funding for abortions and should decrease the chance for another government shutdown at least on this issue. Whether you are for or against abortion that is a decision of your own making. We the American people need to stop ignoring what is going on in our country and take a stand by going out to vote. We may not always agree on certain issues but we should all agree that voting or not voting does make a difference because it does affect our lives personally.  May God continually bless our Country.
